Promethean Particles announces the appointment of Dr Paul Kirkman as Research and Development Manager. With overall responsibility for Promethean’s R&D team, Paul will lead the Company’s team of scientists in the continued synthesis and application development of our materials technology, especially with respect to metal-organic frameworks (MOFs).

Prior to joining Promethean, Paul held the position of Senior Research Chemist at Lubrizol, a leading US-provider of specialty chemicals. Lubrizol was acquired by Warran Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway in 2011 for $9.7bn. In his role as Senior Research Chemist, Paul’s research focused on the generation of fundamental knowledge into engine oil additives for fuel-efficient transportation. In addition to this role, Paul also led Lubrizol’s Surface Science and Tribology team, and was a subject matter expert for Lubrizol’s emissions research portfolio.

Paul holds a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Warwick’s Electrochemistry and Interface Group and currently sits on the advisory board for the Warwick Analytical Science Centre and Warwick’s Analytical Science Centre for Doctoral Training.

James Stephenson, Chief Executive Officer of Promethean, said: “Paul brings a wealth of experience to Promethean, having worked on the research team of a leading US company for almost 9 years. His appointment is consistent with our plan to bring more industrial experience to the team. His sector knowledge of the carbon capture space from his previous role as a subject matter expert for Lubrizol’s emissions research portfolio will be invaluable to the team going forwards.”

Commenting on his appointment, Dr Paul Kirkman said “I am delighted to have joined Promethean at such an exciting stage in the Company’s development. Global awareness of the need to reduce carbon emissions is at an all-time high, and I believe that innovative technologies such as Promethean’s MOFs will have an integral part to play in the fight against climate change.”
