BBC Coverage Highlights Promethean Particles’ Progress
Since the recent announcement of the closing of our £8M Series A funding round, we have seen some fantastic interest from a variety of media sources to learn more about what we are doing here at Promethean Particles. Last week, we hosted Sally Bowman from the BBC's East Midlands Today programme. As environment correspondent, Sally has covered a number of topics related to climate change and new technologies to help address the crisis. We were delighted to introduce her to metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), how they offer the potential to be a next-generation solution for tackling climate change and water scarcity, show her our facility, and explain the progress we have been making in scaling MOFs to industrial quantities and with accessible...

BEYOND CO2 UPTAKE
Pioneering a Paradigm Shift
Attitudes to climate change are driving more action to implement decarbonisation solutions.
Promethean, through its use of continuous flow hydrothermal synthesis and patented reactor systems, is delivering the materials and technology to meet these demands via MOF-based carbon capture.

Carbon capture
Unprecedented demand
Demand is accelerating for viable, energy-efficient carbon capture solutions. Promethean has already demonstrated its capability to produce MOFs at scale and is now actively developing and demonstrating their use in carbon capture applications. We’re focused on developing cost-effective solutions for hard-to-abate emissions from the power and industrial sectors, but have also seen significant interest in MOFs for direct-air capture applications.
MOFs
Energy-efficient sorbent nanomaterials
Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are a class of materials with incredibly high surface areas, some of which have the ability to preferentially adsorb materials like carbon dioxide. By flowing air or post-combustion gas streams over beds of selected MOFs, carbon dioxide can be selectively removed and later recovered in a controlled manner. Our continuous flow process and patented reactor designs are breaking some of the scale and cost paradigms that have historically held back the use of these incredible materials.
Continuous flow synthesis
Cost-effective, scalable technology
As a world leader in continuous flow hydrothermal synthesis of nanomaterials, Promethean is enabling MOFs to be a viable carbon capture sorbent at an industrial scale, putting us at the forefront of the manufacture of MOFs for carbon capture. We’re uniquely positioned to provide industrial-scale, cost-effective MOFs for carbon capture applications.
