Promethean Particles is excited to announce a further two new appointments to its growing team, as it continues to scale up output in response to increasing demand. Sam Adams and Andrew Jordan are the latest to join the company, which is gaining international recognition for its work in developing metal-organic frameworks (MOFs).
Sam has joined Promethean as health, safety and environmental manager, where he will be responsible for ensuring safety standards remain high across the company’s manufacturing operations and laboratory environments. Meanwhile, Andrew has taken on the role of project manager, supporting the smooth delivery of complex projects as the company continues to expand its production and develop new applications for MOFs.
Despite the long history and well-documented potential of MOFs, there have traditionally been challenges to their large scale and cost-effective manufacture, constraining their commercial use. Promethean Particles has changed that by implementing its continuous flow manufacturing technology to MOF production – a breakthrough that has improved scalability while reducing waste, lowering energy consumption, and enhancing consistency.
It was this innovation that attracted Sam to the company, allowing him to put both his chemistry background and safety expertise to good use. He said:
“Although I have a PhD in chemistry and started out as a research scientist, in a previous role I was nominated as a safety officer and moved into health and safety from there. I’m looking forward to taking on the role here because as the company grows, there are going to be new pieces of equipment and new processes that have never been used before.
“I’ll be there at ground level, getting to know them and creating the policies on how to use them safely. I see myself as a problem solver, so the requirements of the role suit me – and it’s exciting to be involved in continuous chemical processing that is happening on a large scale.”
Andrew, who previously held positions at GSK and Charnwood Discovery in chemical process development, is also excited to be working with Promethean’s innovative manufacturing process. He said:
“Most chemists still think of MOFs only in academic terms, at gram-scale, but the work taking place here is far more advanced than many would realise – and the technology is like nothing I’ve ever seen before. That’s exciting, and I’m looking forward to being part of long-term projects and seeing the developments unfold over time.”
Sam and Andrew’s appointments follow a number of recent additions to the team at Promethean Particles, including the appointment of new chairman Paul Capell, synthetic chemist Georgia Rowe, and process operator Chigozie Obu earlier this year.
James Stephenson, chief executive officer of Promethean Particles, said:
“Sam and Andrew have fitted into our growing team seamlessly, and we’re delighted to welcome them on board. They’re helping us to grow and remain at the forefront of MOF development and manufacturing – right here in the heart of Nottingham.”
