Promethean Particles, a leading global provider of industrial scale, cost-effective nanomaterials, has joined the Chemical Industries Association (CIA).
The CIA is the UK’s leading industry association for chemical and pharmaceutical companies. Originally heavily focused on improving safety performance through its Responsible Care® program, it also helps its member companies through lobbying efforts and with a raft of pertinent industry issues from chemicals management, environment and climate change, health and wellbeing, and education and employment.
“The wealth of knowledge and experience within the CIA and its member companies is invaluable to an early-phase company like Promethean,” said James Stephenson, Chief Executive Officer at Promethean Particles. “The chemical industry is rightfully complex and heavily regulated due to the nature of our work. Start-ups and university spin-outs can have significant experience and knowledge gaps in their formative years that would otherwise take decades to acquire organically. Membership of the CIA not only provides effective access to this experience, but also shows our commitment to the chemical industry and its operating principles.”
Promethean has become increasingly focused on providing materials like metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) that can have a positive impact on the planet and its people, particularly for applications such as energy-efficient carbon capture. The safe manufacturing and transportation of these materials whilst complying with international chemicals regulations is therefore critical to the future success of the company and its license to operate.
“Early-phase, innovative chemical companies are critical to the sustainability and competitiveness of the UK chemical industry,” commented Steve Elliott, CIA Chief Executive. “It would be tragic to see these companies fail because they didn’t have the knowledge or experience to navigate complex matters like chemical management. The experience of our members can make a real difference to companies like Promethean and we’re delighted Promethean sees the value in joining the CIA.”
