Promethean Particles has been shortlisted in the Made in the Midlands annual awards programme, hosted by Insider Media.

The awards celebrate manufacturing in the Midlands region and Promethean has been recognised in the Ethical/Sustainable Manufacturer category for continued refinement and innovation of its Metal Organic Framework (MOF) development process.

In the past year, Promethean has enhanced its MOFs manufacturing by transferring processes from solvothermal synthesis to hydrothermal synthesis. The move was made in response to demand for larger volumes of materials and importantly, by significantly reducing its use of solvents in the manufacturing process, Promethean has been able to reduce its environmental impact without affecting the quality and specification of the final material.

Laurie Geldenhuys, CEO, said: “It is great news to hear we have been shortlisted for these awards. At Promethean, we are committed to always seeking new ways to improve our processes to deliver greater product quality, consistency and reproducibility.

“Our work with MOFs during the past 12 months has seen us overcome several challenges to achieve significant improvements and, at the same time, our manufacturing process has become greener with more sustainable developments planned in the near future.”Award winners will be announced at a gala dinner on September 3, 2020, at the Macdonald Burlington Hotel, Birmingham. Regional winners will automatically become finalists for Insider’s Made in the UK Awards which will be held on November 18, 2020, in Liverpool, where they will compete with the victors from seven other regions.
